
IT & MSDC Campus under the supervision of Rajya Sabha member Vikramjit Singh Sahni will provide skill training and jobs to 3 thousand youth every year
The World Skill Campus of Excellence and the newly renovated Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and Multi Skill Development Centre spread over 20 acres in the heart of Ludhiana were inaugurated on Thursday by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains. The 20-acre campus has the capacity to impart skill training and facilitate jobs to over 3,000 students annually. Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Padma Shri, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha has adopted and advised ITI Ludhiana and has contributed Rs 2 crore from his MPLAD fund and Rs 70 lakh from his own pocket to upgrade and modernise ITI – Ludhiana. These upgrades include state-of-the-art technologies like robotic welders, 3D printing machines, CNC machines etc., digital classrooms with audio-video setups and advanced training labs. Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann lauded Dr. Sahni’s contribution and said that today Punjab has achieved a new milestone in the field of education. He said that the Punjab government has launched a major campaign against drugs and has ensured that Punjabi youth get quality education and employment in Punjab. He said that Punjabis have skills and can set an example by excelling in various fields. Dr. Sahni also spent Rs. 2.5 crore on capital expenditure from his own pocket to set up a Multi-Skill Development Skill Centre of Excellence. This facility will provide free skill courses to the youth in Artificial Intelligence, Aviation, Hospitality and Tourism, Agriculture Skill Development, Fashion Designing, Beauty and Wellness, Nursing, CNC Programming, Electrician, Welding and other courses recognized by the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). Dr. Vikramjit Singh Sahni said that there was stagnation in the industries, brain drain was happening from the state, but the campaign started by the government to provide skills to the youth will yield good results. He said that industrialists have also played a key role in this and have assured that 5000 youth will be given jobs every year. Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, speaking on the occasion today, said that Ludhiana has got the best ITI and appreciated this initiative of Dr. Sahni. He said that earlier only 50-60 percent seats were being filled in ITIs but now the government has ensured 97 percent admission rate despite increasing the number of seats every year.
